1. What does Hitchscan audit in my Shopify store?
Your home, collection, product and cart pages for conversion problems; mobile speed and the script weight of every app; and technical SEO, product data and AI-search visibility. Every finding comes with evidence, a priority, the effort to fix it and step-by-step instructions.
2. Will it change my theme or slow my store down?
No. Hitchscan has read-only access and doesn’t add scripts to your storefront. Nothing changes unless you make the change yourself.
3. How accurate are the findings?
Each finding is labelled Confirmed, Needs review or Opportunity. Confirmed issues come with reproducible evidence. Anything that depends on context is flagged for your review instead of being counted as an error.
4. How is my store score calculated?
Start at 100. Each confirmed issue deducts points based on its priority. Opportunities and items still under review don’t lower your score, and checks that couldn’t run are shown as gaps, not failures.
5. Can it find problems caused by apps?
Yes. Hitchscan measures the scripts each app loads on every page and flags code left behind by apps you’ve already uninstalled.
6. Can Hitchscan fix the issues for me?
Every finding comes with step-by-step instructions, and the most technical fixes (robots.txt, structured data and a store summary for AI assistants) come ready-made for you to copy in. Most take 10–30 minutes. Stuck? Email hello@hitchscan.com and we’ll help.
7. What does it cost?
Nothing. During early access Hitchscan is completely free: every audit, every feature, no card needed. If that ever changes, you’ll hear well in advance and early stores get the best deal.
8. How long does it take?
A few minutes for your first audit (up to about 10 for very large stores). After that, Hitchscan audits your store again once a month and checks the fixes you’ve ticked.
9. Is my store ready to sell through ChatGPT and other AI assistants?
Hitchscan checks it for you. It looks at whether your store has AI checkout set up, whether AI crawlers can read your store, how clearly your store answers questions about returns and delivery, and whether your product data and structured data are complete enough for AI assistants to recommend you. It also makes ready-to-copy robots.txt and structured data fixes, plus a store summary for AI assistants.
10. What access does Hitchscan need?
Read-only access to the store information it needs to run the checks, such as products and theme settings. Hitchscan can’t change your store, doesn’t add code to your storefront and never sees payment details.
11. Do I need a developer to fix the issues?
Usually not. Most fixes take 10–30 minutes in your Shopify admin, and every finding shows the exact place to make the change. Each finding also shows the effort, so you know up front when a developer would help.
12. How do I stop using Hitchscan?
Uninstall it from your Shopify admin at any time. Monthly audits stop straight away and your store data is deleted, as described in our privacy policy.
13. Does it check my subscriptions and email marketing?
Yes. Hitchscan checks whether you offer subscriptions on products people buy again, whether visitors can sign up for emails, and whether reviews, free gifts, free shipping and sale prices actually show on your product pages. If you connect Klaviyo (read-only), each audit also finds missing email flows, checks the timing between emails, reviews how your emails are written and compares your open, click and unsubscribe rates. If you connect Instagram, it checks how often and when you post.
14. Which tools can I connect?
All connections are optional and read-only: Klaviyo for email, Google Analytics, Search Console, Merchant Center and Google Ads, and Instagram and Meta Ads. Without them, Hitchscan still runs every check that only needs your public store. You can disconnect any tool at any time in Settings.
